Little Four Finals Find Foes That Know Each Other Well

Dudley meets Greensboro Day School for the boys title Wednesday night at the Greensboro Coliseum. The Pizza Hut Little Four championship final will be the eighth time the Panthers and Bengals have met for the crown. Greensboro Day holds a 4-3 advantage over Dudley in the boys final matchups with the most recent meeting being a Dudley 57-34 romp back in 2001. Dudley has 10 tournament titles in 16 appearances and the Day School owns 5 championships after 9 visits to the finals.

Dudley will be led by William Graves, Kenny Belton(now a Maryland Terrapin signee), Rayshawn Polk, Robert Johnson, and Josh Chavis. GDS will rely on Johnny Thomas, Josh Lanham, Bruce Woodall, Travis Leonard, and Brandon Davis for their offense while Alan Fox will run the show from his point guard spot. Inside matchups with Belton and Graves from Dudley going up with Thomas and Lanham from GDS should be intresting, while I like the Alan Fox and Josh Chavis one on one potential battle.

The girl’s final pits Northwest vs. Dudley, with the Northwest Vikings trying to win their third consecutive crown. The Dudley girls have been in the championship game 8 times and have never won it all. Darlene Joyner’s Northwest team is small and scrappy and has only lost one game going into the final, while Dudley has ladies at 6’5 and 6’4 along the front line and let’s just see how the defenses go at it in this contest. We haven’t watched a girls game up close all season but we will be right on top of this one.
