The Greensboro Colts defeated Bay County, Michigan 7-4 on Saturday afternoon and now sport a 3-0 record in pool play at the Colt World Series in Lafayette, Indaina. The team played sloppy baseball early with 3 errors in the 1st inning, but followed Michael Dimock’s(High Point Wesleyan) solid pitching with 5 and half innings on the hill, 10 strikeouts, 2 walks, and Dimock allowed seven hits. Cameron Cockman(Southeast Guilford) came in for the Greenboro Colts to get the save.

The Colts got it going at the plate with 5 runs in the 3rd, 1 in the 4th, and 1 more in the 6th. Nick Jones(Page) went 2-2 with a double, a sacrifice fly and 2 runs scored. Timmy Dezern(Page) was 1-2 with a double and a run scored.

The Colts settled down, got down to business and grabbed the 7-4 win and now will play their final pool game Monday night at 7:30 versus Hoosier North. The Greensboro Colts will then enter Championship play on Tuesday and Wednesday. Alan Ashkinazy’s squad is playing well and they will be watching closely to see who wins Sunday’s 2:30pm matchup between Tampa and Puerto Rico. The loser is gone and Greensboro has alreday beaten both teams and they were tough, hard-earned wins.

Best of luck to the Greensboro Colts the rest of the way and thanks to our reporters out in Lafayette, Indiana for the sending us all the good news about out local boys and the great job they have been doing.
