High School Football Polls

                        LUCKY 13

#1) Grimsley(The Whirlies beat High Point Central 33-13 and this week face Smith.  Grimsley is 8-0 and ranked 4th in the State in one Poll.  Go to hoggsblog.com to read some good stories about Grimsley from a parent’s perspective)

#2) Thomasville(The Bulldogs take back over number two after ER went down and the ‘Dogs took care of business by stopping previously unbeaten Jordan Mattews 21-0. T’ville is 9-0)

#3) Dudley(The Panthers were off last week but they take their 7-1 record to Northeast Guilford on Friday and NEG is ready to play spoiler if given the chance)

#4) Asheboro(The Blue Comets won the BIG ONE against ER and now they must look to protect the 8-0 mark that they have worked so hard to establish.  A’boro still has to play Ragsdale so there is no time to rest)

#5) Burlington Cummings(The Cavaliers planted Northwood into the ground rolling up a 50-21 victory and at 7-1 the Cavs have a pretty easy road the rest of the way during the regular season)

#6) Reidsville(The Rams slammed Eastern Guilford 49-7 and stand up at 7-1 and they don’t have too many challenges left in their path)

#7) Eastern Randolph(The Wildcats lost that 12-10 squeaker to Asheboro and now the Cats still must face a tough Southeast Guilford squad before season’s end)

#8) Western Alamance(The Warriors pounded Bartlett Yancey 41-0 and face Dudley in two weeks and then have an open date to close out the regular season.  WA{8-1} goes to Western Guilford this week for the Hornets Homecoming)

#9) Southeast Guilford(The Falcons dropped a bomb on Southwestern Randolph leaving Cougars in their wake with a 52-0 Falcon finish.  SEG is 6-2)

#10) High Point Andrews(The Raiders roasted Regan 27-6 and still have the meat of their season on the schedule to close out the regular portion of 2006. Carver, Parkland, and Southwest Guilford are still out there and waiting to take out the Raiders who are up to 6-2 on the year)

#11) Northeast Guilford(The Rams fell hard to Morehead 42-14 and are 5-3 with three games to go.  Huge matchup this week with Dudley coming to Bill Bookout Stadium to face-off with NEG)

#12) Ragsdale(The Tigers tamed the Randleman Tigers and did the Billy Ragsdale Roll winning 46-0.  Tommy Norwood’s boys can still make some noise and at 4-4, don’t close the door on them yet)

#13) Glenn(Carver beat Glenn 32-19 but the Bobcats have 9 lives and have only played 8 games{4-4}.  Let’s watch out and see if the B’cats can force us to bring Burlington Williams back into the poll and drop the B’cats out of the bag and then leave the K’ville kitties along the side of the road)

                    GUILFORD GREAT EIGHT

#1) GRIMSLEY

#2) DUDLEY

#3) SEG

#4) HP ANDREWS

#5) NEG

#6) SWG

#7) RAGSDALE

#8) TIE:HP CENTRAL and PAGE…. They play tonight(Thursday) at Simeon Stadium in High Point to break the TIE.  This could be a Furniture City Classic with chairs being thrown, fans jumping through Broyhill tables, bar stools breaking in the fieldhouse and somebody may destroy the San Quentin Quayle’s birdhouse.  When the Furniture Market is in town anything can happen……

others not receiving votes this week:EG, NWG, WG, SG, Smith……………….. Sadness in Alamance County as Southen Alamance football coach Tony Perrou died on Wednesday from complications suffered in a vehicular accident earlier in the week.  Perrou was the former Athletic Director at Burlington Williams and I believe Perrou played football for Pete Stout in Burlington several years ago. Â
