High School Football Polls are Back and these Suckers are HOT

Time again for the LUCKY 13 and the Guilford Great Eight and don’t forget we plan to have Grimsley vs. Northwest Guilford and updates on Dudley at Western Alamance on WPET AM 950 on Friday night weather permitting.  Jim Modlin, Jimmy Fulmer, and greensborosports.com Durham at Grimsley and Paul Lambeth at WA.  Grimsley’s looking to go unbeaten regular-season and Dudley wants to grab that Triad 3-A conference crown.  Greg Johnson of High Point may be riding down the road with the San Quentin Quayle and they may have a bird’s-eye view of the HP Scene and send along a report late Friday evening.

                           LUCKY 13

#1) Grimsley(The Whirlies have reached the 9-0 stage and now meet cross-county rival Northwest Guilford and after last week’s 49-14 victory over Smith, Grimsley knows there can’t be a let down and that the Whirlies MUST get off to a good start in the 1st quarter)

#2) Thomasville(The Bulldogs were off last week and now at 9-0 the ‘Dogs travel to North Moore on Friday)

#3) Dudley(The Panthers did all they needed to do by handling Northeast Guilford 34-14 with Keith Lee, James Perry, Cedric Blacknall, Atouris Bryant, Derek Blacknall, Kenny Okoro, and Kyree Ward all adding to Dudley’s offensive success.  Northeast had no passing yards and Dudley put up 143 yards through the air plus 140 on the ground.  Kendall Bratcher and Tyler Woods carried the load for the Rams on the ground but in the end Dudley improved to 8-1/4-0 and Northeast fell to 5-4/1-3 for the season. Dudley at Western Alamance this week.

#4) Asheboro(The Blue Comets ran their record to 9-0 but it was not easy.  The Trinity Bulldogs scratched and clawed but the Blue Comets pulled it out 32-24.  Ashboro was down 24-19 late in the game but came back behind the running of Darius Fonville{162 yards and 2 TD’s}.  The teams were pathetic kicking extra points going a combined 2-6 and losing out on a potential of 11 points on missed conversions.  This week Ashboro hosts Randleman and the Tigers better bring Richard and Kyle Petty out of retirement if they hope to beat Asheboro)

#5) Burlington Cummings(The Cavaliers took care of football business last Friday 28-8 winners over Cedar Ridge, and the 8-1 Cavs should have a laugher at Cardinal Gibbons this week)

#6) Eastern Randolph(The Wildcats took out their frustrations on Randleman 69-0 and one week after “THE LOSS” to Asheboro the ‘Cats look to be back on a fast track and will host #9 Southeast Guilford on Friday.  Could be a batlle for 2nd place in the Mid-Piedmont 3-A with ER 3-1/8-1 and SEG 3-1/7-2)

#7) Reidsville(Rams on a roll 3-0/8-1 and there seems to be no stopping Reidsville in the North State 2-A.  Last week the Rams attacked Atkins 56-12 and now the Rams look to roll over Southern Guilford this Friday.  SG beat some key teams 2 years ago and now the Storm is receiving some payback)

#8) Western Alamance(WA is 5-0/9-1 after they mutilated Western Guilford 54-7 last week and this week it is the “BIG ONE” at home for WA versus Dudley.  Last year WA beat Dudley in Greensboro and this year the Panthers would like to return the favor and get what some American Indians call re-venge)

#9) Southeast Guilford(The Falcons kept a good season going with their 15-0 win over Rockingham County and now try to focus on having a great season by beating Eastern Randolph this week)

#10) High Point Andrews(The Red Raiders could not get past Carver last Friday night falling 14-0 and now must re-group and get to ready to host and toast Southwest Guilford this week at Simeon Stadium.  HPA 2-1/6-3 and SWG 1-2/5-4 and remember Simeon is the winter home of the famous San Quentin Quayle)

#11) Northeast Guilford(The Rams fell to 5-4 after Hurricane Dudley came through McLeansville last Friday night.  It was definitely leansville for NEG and now the Rams must skip the lean and lay on the fat and this week they should do just that playing host to 5-4 Rockingham County)

#12) Glenn(Just like I told all of you last week these Bobcats have 9 lives and they proved it by finishing off Parkland 27-26 in OT. This week the 5-4 K’ville Kitties will invade 0-8 Regan and make like a Hinckley and prove once again it’s too soon to count out the ‘Cats)

#13) Page(Welcome back to the Pirates and Dave Williams will be glad to know that his ‘Rats are 3-1/4-4 and the Page Pie-rats are here to fight.  The last guy to say he was here to fight was from Mt. Airy or Mayberry so let’s just say Page hosts 1-8 Smith this Friday.  The Pirates currently hold down the second spot in the Metro-4A)

#2) DUDLEY

#3) SEG

#4) HP ANDREWS

#5) NEG

#6) PAGE
