HS Hoops:The Girls are turning some heads

The girls HS hoops made it through the second round on Thursday evening and the big shocker was the Dudley girls taking apart Burlington Williams.  You never know which Dudley team will show up and the real deal was in Burlington last night.  At times the Dudley girls look like they are washed up and then from out of nowhere they come in and start kicking butt and taking names.

Dudley’s 66-52 victory over BW sets up another Dudley-Northeast Guilford meeting at NEG on Saturday night.  NEG is leading the 2006/2007 series 2-1 and this should be a classic with the winner moving on to the regionals.  NEG won out over Rocky Mount 43-39 on Thursday night to set the re-match.

The WhirlieGirls of Grimsley rolled past Charlotte Vance 71-42 and will host Southern Durham on Saturday.  NWG, SWG, SEG, EG, HP Central, and HP Andrews all saw their season’s come to and end on Thursday night.  Ragsdale shut down HPA 53-41 and the Tigers’ hopes are still alive as they head into the Sectional Finals on Saturday night.

There’s great HS basketball being played here locally and  tonight the boy’s feature will be Northeast Guilford at Dudley with a 7pm tipoff and airtime 6:30 on AM 950 with Andy Durham and Jim Modlin, plus Paul Lambeth will have a preview of the Grimsley girls and their sectional final which is coming up on Saturday night.

  1. I told you when GDS had to play somebody other than GreensboroHomeEducators they would lose, they would not be a 500 team if they played in a regular conference they should not even be in your poll.
