FIVE TO REPRESENT GREENSBORO IN ALL-STAR GAME

(Greensboro, NC) The Greensboro Grasshoppers are proud to announce the selection of four players and one coach to the 48th Annual South Atlantic League All-Star roster.

Graham Taylor, a left-handed pitcher in his first full professional season, has struck out 55 batters in 73.0 innings pitched. In 11 starts, the Villa Hills, Ky., native has complied a 6-1 record with an impressive 2.59 ERA. He tossed the league’s first complete game shutout of the season on May 15th and remains tied for the league lead in complete games with two. Facing a total of 273 batters so far on the year, Graham has issued only five walks.

Blake Jones, a right-handed pitcher from Brandon, Miss., appeared in 17 games for the Hoppers before being placed on the disabled list mid-May. He remains tied for the league lead with 11 saves and has allowed just one run in 17.2 innings pitched.

Chris Coghlan, a First-Round Draft pick for the Florida Marlins in 2006, continues to lead the Grasshoppers in doubles (16), triples (4) and RBI (47). The Tarpon Springs, Fla. native also leads the Marlins organization in both batting average (.315) and RBI (47). Coghlan has started 50 games at second base and holds a .949 on-base percentage.

John Raynor, an outfielder from Benson, N.C., has been an offensive catalyst for the Hoppers in each of the 48 games he has played. A dominating force on the base paths, Raynor leads the Marlins organization with 25 stolen bases.

John Duffy will serve as the Northern Division squad’s pitching coach under West Virginia manager Mike Guerrero.

The 2007 All-Star game will take place June 19 at State Mutual Stadium in Rome, Ga.
