Update on Greensboro Batting Center 9U AAU team

Report from Jimmy Chamblee….

Andy, GBC 9U just won the Triple Crown Sports national tournament in Myrtle Beach last night to finish our season on a positive note. We beat the Ghanna Lions from Columus, OH 10-0 in game 1. Casey Penland had 2 double and 5 rbi’s and was the winning pitcher to lead GBC. In game 2, we beat the Atlanta Icons 12-4. Luke Robinson had a base clearing triple and Walton Chamblee had a 2 run double and Ceasar Trejo was the winning pitcher to lead GBC. We were number 1 seed for bracket play in the 12 team field. We had to face the Icons again and their ace. We won 3-2 in a tough game. Walton Chamblee pitched all 6 innings for the win and picked off the tying runner at 2nd to end the game. The defense led by Luke Gessell, Tyson Poe, Andrew Robinson, and Luke Robinson behind the plate, was outstanding. Walton,Evan Edwards, and Kameron Pruitt led the offense. In the semi-final game, GBC beat the Louisiana Titans from Shreveport 5-2. Kameron Pruitt was the winning pitcher and Cobie Vance, Trevor Clemons, and Tyson Poe led the offense. Walton,Evan, Tyson and Luke Gessell led a solid defense. In the championship game, GBC beat the Carolina Mustangs from Lexington, NC 10-4. Trevor Clemons pitched well for 5 innings and got the win. Walton closed the game out with a 3 up 3 down 6th inning. Trevor, Kameron, Evan, and Cobie led the offense while Cobie, Luke G, Tyson, and Walton made some great plays on defense.

Our successful season comes to a fitting end with an overall record of 53-10. A big thanks to head coach Scott Clemons.
