GBC 12U Softball Report

The Greensboro Batting Center 12u softball team is participating in the World Fastpitch Connection World Series in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The team participated in opening ceremonies on Monday afternoon at Pepper-Geddings complex.

Ashton Whitaker and Blair Bauer competed in the homerun derby, Miranda Brewer and Kelsey Rice ran the roadrunner race.

Miranda Brewer brought home the first place trophy with a time of 11.32 seconds. Several of the players participated in the egg toss contest and ended up with egg all over them.

We started pool play on Tuesday morning against the Maryland Champions. Holly Adams was the starting pitcher and pitched a completed game, allowing only two hits. A line drive down the right field line in the last inning by Brianna Webb scored Logan Royal to clinch the victory, 5-4. Our next game was against the SC Stingrays. Kelsey Parsons was the starting pitcher and also pitched a complete game. Good defense by shortstop – Ashton Whitaker, centerfielder – Miranda Brewer and catcher – Kara Shutt helped secure the win, 3-2. We play our final pool game on Wednesday against the Blue Ridge Explosion. We will be seeded and start a double elimination tournament on Thursday.

*****Thanks to Danny Shutt for the fine report and I saw Danny’s son Dylan practicing with the Southeast Guilford football team on Monday afternoon(#22) and I wonder if that Brianna Webb is Todd Webb’s daughter and Brian Webb’s sister. Brian was also in that Southeast Guilford football practice on Monday and Coach Fritz tells me that Brian can run a 4.38 40 yard dash and that ranks second only to Justin Venable on the SEG Falcon squad.(JV does a 4.3)*****
