Early Polling of the local High Schools

Here’s a look at the early Guilford County high school football poll after last week’s games and looking ahead to week number two.

#1 Northeast Guilford(The Rams had the week off and face a tough challenge from the Page Pirates this Friday)
#2 Grimsley(The Whirlies proved to be strong on the road and we’ll have to wait and see how those ejections play out this week as GHS goes to Northern Durham)
#3 Page(The Pirates were impressive in week one with the big win at home versus WS Reynolds, Page will host the County’s top team this Friday night)
#4 Dudley(The Panthers got the job done on the road at Carver and this week play host to the defending State 3-A champs Eastern Randolph. ER lost to Sun Valley in week one)
#5 Southeast Guilford(The Falcons will open up their regular season this Friday night at home against Eastern Guilford)
#6 Ragsdale(The Tigers won handedly at Morehead and now play one of their arch-rivals Southwest Guilford in Jamestown this Friday night)
#7 High Point Andrews(The Raiders will get started this Friday under first-year head coach Rodney McCoy and they should be ready to hold down this spot)
#8 High Point Central(The Black Bison played Glenn right up to the final seconds before falling and HPC travels to Burlington Williams this week)
#9 Southwest Guilford(The Cowboys are not to be taken lightly after finishing off Northwest Guilford on Friday and kicker Tyler Narron is one of the best in the area as SWG goes to Ragsdale this week)
#10 Southern Guilford(The Storm will get even better as they get used to their new offense and William Graves told me he gets stronger each week so Randleman better look out)
#11 Western Guilford(The Black Hornets got a huge win over Asheboro and they will try to keep it rolling in week two with a win over NWG)
#12 Northwest Guilford(The Vikings played SWG close until the bitter end and NWG can be a team to watch but they will probably have to make it happen through the air)
#13 Eastern Guilford(The Wildcats got beat on the road at Rockingham County and this week they travel to face the Southeast Guilford Falcons and that is not going to be fun for EG)
#14 Smith(It’s going to be a LONG season for the Golden Eagles after the 34-0 opening night loss to WS Atkins)
#15 Northern Guilford(The Nighthawks are playing a Junior Varsity schedule this year but we will try to track them along the way)
