Tonight’s the Night, HS Football is back

We have a ton of games in our area and for the Guilford County roundup let’s lay it on the table and see who’s gonna come out on top.

Northeast Guilford at Page(The Pirates are 1-0 and they are at home in Kirby Stadium but NEG is the top-rated team locally and you have to go with #1 until they are done. Last year NEG won this one 21-0 but we’re guessing it will be much closer than that tonight. Let’s go with NEG 28-17.)*****Paul Lambeth will have complete coverage of this game for us on AM950 with scores from the first quarter, Halftime, 3rd quarter, and the post-game wrapup. Eastern Randolph at Dudley(The Panthers host the Wildcats and ER beat Dudley last year at Dudley in round two of the State 3-A playoffs. This time around with it’s superior defense Dudley will pull this game out. The Panther offense needs to get going behind QB Jenkins, RB Ward, and WR Kenny Okoro.)*****Dennis White will be at Tarpley Stadium bringing us reports on the Panthers and Wildcats on AM950*****

Grimsley at Northern Durham(The Whirlies go on the road for the secnd straight week and this time they hit Durham County to face the ND Knights. It should be a long night for the Knights even though Grimsley will be missing QB Zach Maynard. The Whirlies piled up yards on the ground last week at East Wake and that story should repeat itself this week at ND. David Moore will have a huge night and Coach Mark Saunders may start a freshman at QB instead of SR backup Seth Odell. The frosh can run and all he has to do is hand the ball off to Moore. Grimsley wins by three touchdowns.)*****We will have updates on AM90 from Fred Harris on the road with the Whirlies in Durham.*****

Eastern Guilford at Southeast Guilford(This will be the first game of the season for SEG, while EG lost their opener at Rockingham County last Friday night. Look for SEG to put a hurting on Eastern with the score being somewhere in the neighborhood of 35-0. The Falcons can punish their opponents and EG will pay the price tonight.*****Keith and Tiger Miller will be at the game and will send the scores along to us on AM950*****

Randleman at Southern Guilford(The Storm survived East Davidson last Friday and this week they meet the Randleman Tigers. The Storm will have to cut down on the penelties and turnovers, four interceptions nearly killed them last week, and Southern can win it and they will if William Graves rushes for over 150 yards and scores at least 2 TD’s. He will and Southern wins this game 27-14.)*****We hope to get updates on this game from William Graves Sr.*****

Southwest Guilford at Ragsdale(There was a big article on Tyler Naron of SWG in today’s N&R and he’s the nephew of Davis Troxler, the golfer that became a video store owner and fantasy football expert. This will be no fantasy as Ragsdale won big on the road last week at Morehead and SWG just barely got past Northwest Guilford. Ragsdale wins this one in Jamestown, 21-7 and the Tigers start off the seaon at 2-0.)*****We hope to have scores on this game from one of Big Jim Modlin’s contacts in Jamestown on AM950*****

Western Guilford at Northwest Guilford(This may be the toughest game of the night to predict. WG won at home last week vs. Asheboro and NWG dropped that heartbreaker on the road at SWG. This one is too tough to call but we’ll take Western by 6 since they know how to win after last week’s “W” over the Blue Comets. NWG may surprise us and this still could be the closest game of the night)

Smith at High Point Andrews(This promises to be the biggest blowout of the night. Will the Smith Golden Eagles score? The Raiders should win it by a lopsided margin, pick a number, say 42-0 and that may be under-estimating the ending)*****People are still asking Tony who?, about that High Point city stadium*****
