Whirlies get BIG WIN on the road

Tough game for the Whirlies!
Both teams established their running game early and very little passing up until the 4th quarter. Whirlie QB Zach Maynard was missing in action due to his suspension for this game.

The Whirlies got things going with backup QB Seth O’Dell’s 13 yd scamper into the endzone. Mychal Dotts then made a 9 yd TD run to give the Whirlies a 14-0 lead.

With Northern Durham’s inability to score on the run they began exploiting the Whirlies young secondary. QB Peacock threw a TD pass to Kenny Holley to come within one score. With about 5min remaining Peacock went to work again and found receiver Wolcott in the endzone to tie the score late in the 4th quarter.

First overtime each team scored. David Ray ran a 4yd td for the Whirlies. Second overtime N. Durham failed to score on their posession and the Whirlies turned to their field goal kicker Stefan Shepherd to win the game for the Whirlies on a 22 yd field goal.

The Whirlies escaped with a 24-21 win. What a finish!!!!!
