Rams Vanquish Vikings 28-6

Friday night at Bill Bookout Stadium in McLeansville, Northeast Guilford rolled to a ragged 28-6 win over Northwest Guilford.

Early in the contest Northwest put together a nice drive but a interception in the Rams red zone thwarted the effort. Four plays later Kendall Bratcher tossed his first scoring strike of the season a 73yd strike off play action to Marquise Wright which gave Northeast a 7-0 lead with 2:24 left to go in the first quarter. In addition to the TD reception Wright also had 62 yards on six attempts rushing.

The Rams made it 14-0 with 2:06 to play until halftime as Tyler Woods scored the first of his two touchdowns with a 15 yard score to cap a 5 play 54 yard drive, Woods wound up with 81 yards on 17 carries to pace the Rams attack.

After intermission Northwest changed Quarterbacks and philosophies as the Vikings grounded out a 15 play 60 yard drive that ate up over nine minutes off the clock. But it failed to produce points and early in the fourth quarter Woods got his second score on a 28 yard blast to extend the Rams edge to 21-0. The score was set up by Bratcher hitting Josh Bynum for forty five yards as even though Northwest threw sparingly, they threw efficiently. Bratcher wound up 2-3 for 119 yards, along with 50yds rushing on 11 attempts.

Trevor Bush completed the Northwest scoring as with a 17 yard scamper. Frosh Shawn Ples allowed the Vikings to avoid the shutout. Northeast is 3-0 with a trip to Reidsville on the horizon while Northwest drops to 1-3 with the Falcons of Southeast flying in for a visit next week.
