NFL Golden Corral Picks Contest

Rob is Ready, but Chan is still the man. We’ll have the full contest mapped out for you on Friday but Rob’s Picks are ready and his agent David Joseph said we needed to get these up on Thursday so former Greensboro Police Chief David Wray could inspect the picks.

All of the above is probably a bunch of bull, but as they say out in Texas, welcome to the Corral. We will add Big Jim Modlin’s selections on Friday and as Jim Croce used to tell us, “You don’t mess around with Big Jim”.

Chan is still on the throne as King until someone knocks him off but we will have a new winner this and every week.

Rob on a Roll, Biscuit, or Cornbread…..

Arizona vs. Baltimore (BLT) – Arizona must have read my comments last week about their sorry predicament. Regardless of last week’s performance, I’m not sold enough on these guys to think they can compete against Baltimore’s veterans. Too much Raven’s defense in this one. Baltimore by 17.

San Diego vs Green Bay (SD) – Favre must have read our column also. He hobbled his way to throwing three scores in the Packer’s blowout victory. The old man’s luck ends here. Despite Norv Turner and Philip Rivers, San Diego will find a way to win this one. Charger’s by a FG.

Indianapolis vs Houston (IND) – Houston looked great last week against the Panthers. Indianapolis looked mortal against a mediocre Titan’s team. While we’d like to pick the underdog in this one, Andre Johnson’s absence will be the difference. Colt’s by 10.

Minnesota vs Kansas City (KC) – Even in last week’s loss, the Viking’s defense has played very well. Their offense has been questionable at best and even KC can probably stop them. We like KC at Arrowhead. Chief’s by a TD.

Buffalo vs New England (NE) – Buffalo is horrible. New England cheats. Bills don’t have a chance in this one. Bring Captain Solo and the Wookie to me! Patriot’s in a blowout.

Miami vs NY Jets (MIA) – Here’s a toss up game in a battle of the “have nots.” Both teams’ look pretty bad this year, but the Jet’s have suffered more critical injuries to date. In a game that looks to be as exciting as the UNCG vs. Bennett football matchup, look for the Dolphins to cruise to a 14 point win in the Meadowlands.

Detroit vs Philadelphia (DET) – Andy Reid is coaching about as well as he raises children. Donovan McNabb is playing about as bad as he is at making excuses. Detroit will go to 3-0 against an Eagles team that many predicted would win the division. Lion’s by three.

San Francisco vs Pittsburgh (PIT) – The only thing that can stop the Steelers in this game is themselves. Frank Gore will find the yards hard to come by while Clinton High School’s favorite son, Willie Parker, will score at least 2 TDs. Pittsburgh rolls to a 20 point win.

St. Louis vs Tampa Bay (TB) – Who would have thought that St. Louis would look worse in the post Mike Martz era. Tampa on the other hand looked like world beaters against a Saints team that had Super Bowl aspirations. Tampa Bay scores early and will hold on to win it. Bucs by seven.

Jacksonville vs Denver (DEN) – The Jags barely beat a horrible Falcon’s team at home last weekend. Denver has won its first two games on the leg of Jason Elam. We’ll stick with the trend, Bronco’s by a FG.

Cleveland vs Oakland (OAK) – All the fantasy owners that picked up Derek Anderson this week are going to be pretty disappointed when the real Cleveland Browns take the field against the Raiders on Sunday. Oakland’s fortunes, on the other hand, will change this week when they finally win a close one. Raider’s by a TD.

Cincinnati vs Seattle (CIN) – No way does Cincinnati lose two in a row. Not this year. Look for plenty of Rudi Johnson against a defense that gave up 128 yard rushing to Edgerrin James last week. Cincy by 10.

Carolina vs Atlanta (CAR) – No Vick equals no chance. Or so says the Asst. Manager of the Jack in the Box in Duncan, SC. Being a UNC Grad he’s a big Julius Peppers fan and who are we to disagree? Carolina by10.

NY Giants vs Washington (WAS) – Beating a poor Miami squad and an unexpectedly bad Philly team has not exactly been a great barometer for how good the Redskins are. However, the Giants are down right awful and given the QB situation, don’t have the goods to compete in this one. Skin’s by two TDs.

Dallas vs Chicago (DAL) – Here’s an early season contest that will speak volumes about both of these teams. Chicago has the defense, but Rex is just not the answer at QB. Look for the Cowboys to bog down the Bear’s offense and complete enough passes to T.O. to seal the deal. Cowboys by six. Total Score for Sunday night’s matchup? 30 Points.

You’ve seen Rob’s picks now’s here’s what Big Jim Modlin of Big Jim’s Gym or Spa also known as Fitness Today(on Randleman Road) had to say. Jim will be handing out towels there until noon today. If Chan sends us his picks we’ll lay them out for you and see if next week we’re talking, “Chan was the Man”.
