Rams get back on track, Wallop Western 34-7

Tyler Woods tallied three more TD runs and Kendall Bratcher added a touchdown pass to pace Northeast Guilford past Western Guilford 34-7. With the win the Rams rebounded from Monday nights loss to Reidsville to move to 4-1 on the season, after a strong start the Hornets are in a bit of a free fall as Western dropped to 3-3.

Northeast moved 79yds on 9 plays on their initial possession of the game as Woods capped the drive with a five yard run to put the Rams up 7-0. On the ensuing Western possession the Hornets were unable to move the ball but a muffed punt put Western inside the Rams 30 as the first period expired but the Hornets were unable to convert on the opportunity opening the floodgates.

Northeast moved 80 yards in 11 plays as Woods crashed in from the one followed by an 8 play 69 yard march ending in another short Woods score to extend the edge to 21-0. Then just before halftime Bratcher hooked up with T.C. Coker for a 24yard score making it 27-0 at intermission.

Western LB Justin Terwilliger allowed the Hornets to avoid the shutout as his 76yd strip and strut made the score 27-7 with 8:52 to play in the third period. Not to be outdone Northeast LB Jamaal Rasool stepped in front of an errant Hornet pass as score from 19yards out with 6:48 left in the third period to conclude the scoring. Western did move deep into Ram territory in the closing seconds of the contest but were unable to salvage another score.
