Grimsley over Page in boys soccer and the Whirlies have a new scoreboard

Grimsley defeated Page 3-1 in a boys soccer match at Jamieson Stadium on Tuesday evening. This was a back-and-forth match in the first half with a scoreless tie 0-0, at the break.

The Whirlies broke it open in the second stanza with 2 goals from Jordan Nunez to win it going away at the end. David Dupont and Seth Stewart were among those credited with assists for Grimsley.

Jamieson Stadium has a brand new scoreboard with new orange lights and new numbers and Whirlie AD Lewis Newman and company were putting the new board to the test at Tuesday evening’s game. John Curtis of Curtis Packing Company was the man on the clock as they say, and everything seemed to be working properly.

Guilford College has a fairly new board(2 years old) with red lights and Grimsley’s new lights on the Neese’s Country Sausage scoreboard are of the orange persuasion, but for my taste, I prefer the white lights of broadway. New board for Grimsley, the first new one they’ve had in years, congratulations, and I’m sure thanks are in order to the Neese family.

In other soccer action that I was able to track on Tuesday, the Southeast Guilford JV team defeated the Southwest JV’s 2-1 after being down 1-0 at the half. Evan “Tiger” Miller scored the game-winner for the Falcons, who won for only the third time this season. Good job to Tiger and the Falcons.
