Hoppers win again

HOPPERS EARN LEAGUE’S CLUB MERIT AWARD
FOR THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR

(Greensboro, NC) – The South Atlantic League announced Thursday its selection of the Greensboro Grasshoppers as recipients of postseason awards for the 2007 season.

For the third straight season, the Grasshoppers have been distinguished with the league’s Club Merit Award, which recognizes outstanding overall operation by an organization.

“Our league is filled with great teams and operations, so it is a wonderful achievement to receive this honor again,” said Grasshoppers President Donald Moore. “We are extremely proud of the award and are preparing to make next year even better.”

While leading the league in average game attendance, the Hoppers highlighted their season by welcoming their 1,000,000th guest to the ballpark.

In addition to the Club Merit Award, Moore was named General Manager of the Year, an accolade also received by the Hoppers in the 2005 and 2006 seasons. Under Moore’s direction, the Hoppers have consistently ranked among the top 25 teams in Minor League Baseball for attendance. More notably, the Hoppers recently earned the distinguished honor of becoming the first Class A team in the history of Minor League Baseball to draw over 400,000 fans and grow its attendance for three straight years in a new ballpark.

Moore and the Grasshoppers will be officially presented with the awards during the Eighth Annual South Atlantic League Awards Luncheon on Thursday, October 18 at the Doubletree Biltmore Hotel in Asheville, North Carolina.
