High School football County-wide poll

This is a wide county and I was able to briefly secure a copy of the High Point Enterprise High School football High Five and saw the Glenn Bobcats(7-0) as their #1 team while the News and Record has the Reidsville Rams(7-0) in the top spot.

Here is the GREENSBOROSports.com poll for this week:
#1)Grimsley(7-0)-The Whirlies have been our top team nearly the entire year and they romped over High Point Central last week 31-6 and have the Page Pirates this Friday at Jamieson Stadium.
#2)Dudley(7-1)-The Panthers ran past Morehead last week 26-0 and are off this week before hosting NEG on October 19.
#3)Northeast Guilford(5-2)-The Rams fell to Western Alamance 28-14 and will have Morehead at home Friday. NEG lost to Morehead up in Eden last year but the Rams have one the area’s top 3-A kickers in Zach Moore.
#4)Ragsdale(6-2)-The Tigers are coming on strong and after last week’s 60-15 explosion over Trinity, Lucy B. Ragsdale will head down to Randleman to battle the other Tigers(2-0) conference. Sean Cathey, Josh Clark, Ladarious Canty and Matt Heavner will lead the charges.
#5)Southeast Guilford(5-2)-The Falcons are just 6 points away from a perfect season but they have not been scoring many lately(14-7 winners last week vs. Asheboro), and with 0-8 Southwestern Randolph coming in this week to Forest Oakes the Falcons won’t need many points to move ahead in the Mid-Piedmont conference.
#6)Southern Guilford(5-2)-William Graves Jr. has been telling me to keep an eye on the Storm all year and they whipped up on McMichael 34-3 last week and now have to travel to take on a very solid Atkins (3-4) unit, that upset our EG Wildcats 34-31 last Friday. Storm LB Kencie Brewer will need to have his running shoes on and so will WG Jr., Antonio Martin, Scotty Wayne, Tykeam Dawkins, and Darren Garcia.
#7)Eastern Guilford(4-3)-Tough loss to the Atkins Camels and now EG must re-group as they have to travel to take on the number one 2-A team in the state, Reidsville, on Friday.
#8)Page(3-4)-Pirates made quick work of Smith torching the Golden Eagles 47-8, with a halftime lead of 45-0, and now Coach Gillespie’s troops head on over to Grimsley tomorrow night hoping for a game for the ages.
#9)Western Guilford(4-3)-WGHS was off last week and now prepare to host Rockingham County(3-4) this Friday. The RC Cougars are coached by Lin Stadler former salesman for the now defunct Sports and Hobbies Unlimited and Western has a history teacher and part-time coach in Ken Gordon, another former SHU salesman.(as if that means anything to anyone)
#10)Northwest Guilford(2-5)-The Vikings are playing everybody tough falling to East Forsyth 30-21 last week, no fault of the Viks Chase Hoke who had 198 yds. rushing. This week NWG will have their hands full again hosting High Point Central.
#11)High Point Central(2-5)-The Black Bison are quick but not quick enough last Friday watching Grimsley run away with it 31-6, but now a new day is dawning as HPC goes to NWG.
#12)Southwest Guilford(2-5)-Cowboys got killed 39-7 at Carver and now face Parkland(4-3) at home this week.
#13)High Point Andrews(1-5)-The Raiders stayed with Glenn for one quarter 7-7 before losing to the Bobcats 21-7 and now HPA hosts Ronald Reagan(3-4) Friday.
#14)Northern Guilford JV’s-We hear the Nighthawks are still winning but we don’t have their current record but we will try to get that from the Guilford County Schools web site. The Northeast Guilford JV’s and our buddy Brandon are still unbeaten, last check at 6-0, but this is the only football team that Northern has so far.
#15)Smith(0-7)-Smith is feeling stiff after that beat-down at Page and now the Golden Eagles get to travel and meet the East Forsyth Eagles(3-4) on Friday.
*****Northern Guilford JV’s vs. Dudley tonight(OCT.11) 7pm at Guilford College*****
