Can you hear me now? No not really…..

99.9 The Fan has come to life in Raleigh but you can’t pick the station up in the Triad, at least I can’t on my Toyota Corolla. I get interference from a station up in Virginia also broadcasting at 99.9 on the FM dial.

WCMC, 99.9 The Fan, is owned by Capitol Broadcasting and they are the flagship station for the Carolina Hurricanes.

Here’s the sports lineup for The Fan and even though you can’t hear them, it’s still fun to talk about it and theorize what all they are up to.

Programming: Monday-Friday
6am-9am The Fanatics – Mike Maniscalco and Dan Mason
9am-noon Dan Patrick
noon-3pm Tony Bruno
3pm-7pm The Insiders- Scott Jackson and Mark Thomas
7pm-9pm Inside the ACC with Dave Rothenberg
Sporting News Radio is played in other dayparts.

Maniscalco came to Raleigh from the sports station up in Richmond, Virginia(possibly 910AM) and Dan Patrick left ESPN and is now broadcasting on a new independent network out of Chicago.

Maybe 790 the Ball will drop Bill Rosinski and pick up Patrick but they may like BR for his Carolina Panther background and the regional approach.

99.9 The Fan was after Taylor Zarzour but he signed on as 680 WPTF’s new sports director and has put together the Big Tailgate Show which replaces N.C. State football that used to run on WPTF for over 500 years.

  1. it’s a shame a station in the Triad does not carry Hurricanes games.

99.9 now gives the Triangle 3 sports stations. Charlotte has 2. The Triangle has 1 (but no local programming on the station)
