Anne Popek, Ragsdale’s cross country coach, 2nd in Raleigh marathon

In Sunday’s Sony Ericsson, City of Oaks Marathon, Anne Popek of Greensboro did very good. She finished second, just behind her sister.

Gloria Kuiken-Iverson, 39, of Lincolnwood, Ill. edged out her twin sister Anne Kuiken-Popek of Greensboro to win the women’s division with an unofficial time of 2:59:57.70. Four of the eight top female finishers were from the Triangle .

We recognize Anne Popek, Ragsdale’s Cross Country Coach. She finished second in the Marathon behind her twin sister. She is one tough lady: Married , and the mother of three. Her husband is in the military, and he is currently stationed in Somalia. Anne Popek is one tough woman; she’s been a single mom, coach, and training for a marathon the last couple of months.
