State-wide College football Top Ten

Our top teams fell and now our poll will be a mess, but that’s the way it is when you arrive at this stage of the college football season. The BIG GAME this week is North Carolina battling N.C. State in Raleigh on Saturday at high noon. Many have gone as for as to say the Heels will take this showdown but you have to remember that the Pack has won three in a row over some pretty good teams.(ECU, UVA, Miami)

The poll is just a little bit bigger than this game so let’s bring on the Top Ten:
#1)Wake Forest(6-3) LW1 The Demon Deacons dropped that one-point game to Virginia 17-16 and WFU squandered many opportunities. A road trip to Clemson(7-2) is up next for the Deacs.
#2)Appalachian State(7-2) LW3 App beat the crap out of The Citadel 45-24.
#3)Catawba(9-1) LW8 Best team in the Carolinas beat Brevard 56-21 and has Lenoir-Rhyne coming Saturday.
#4)TIE ECU(6-4) LW6 and N.C. State(4-5) LW6 The Pirates out-score Memphis 56-40 and the Pack pulled it out in overtime at Miami 16-13.
#6)Elon(6-3) LW2 The Phoenix fall hard in a close one to Furman in Greenville, S.C. 52-49 and even though QB Scott Riddle had another outstanding day it wasn’t enough to save Elon.
#7)NC Central(6-3) LW4 The Eagles had last week off and this week they visit arch-rival Winston-Salem State.
#8)WSSU(5-4) LW4 The Rams fell to Delaware State 23-20 and now prepare for Central on Saturday.
#9)Guilford(5-4) LW10 The Quakers got back in the win column with their 34-27 victory over Catholic in DC.
#10)Davidson(5-4)LW9 The Wildcats were tripped up by San Diego 52-49.
*****others receiving votes:North Carolina(3-6) after a sloppy 16-13 win over Maryland and UNC-Pembroke(4-5) with a 10-0 loss to Concord*****

  1. You should put Gardner-Webb back in here just for beating Kentucky, in Rupp, in Basketball. I bet there are people jumping off of buildings in Lexington right now.
