Only four games on the docket this evening and we will start at the top with Grimsley(11-1) and a #8 seed at West Charlotte(11-1) and the #1 4-AA West seed. Grimsley’s only loss was that 24-23 defeat at the hands of Page and West Charlotte fell to Independence but they beat Butler. We have been reading about the numbers that the WC QB Darius Thomas has put up this season and I’m giving the game to West Charlotte by three TD’s based on what I’ve read about them for the entire year.

Dudley(9-3) at Northeast Guilford(10-2) NEG took game one 14-13 at Dudley and I’m leaning toward NEG by 4 points here in game number two. I was thinking of something like 17-13 with Northeast kicking a field goal and Dudley missing an extra point. Should make for a great defensive game with both teams keeping it on the ground and maybe a big pass play may open it up for one or the other teams. Kenny Okoro is the big-play man for Dudley and Tyler Woods will be burrowing along low to the ground for NEG.

Southern Guilford(9-3) at St. Pauls(8-4) SG is a #5 seed and SP a #4, so this should make for a close matchup. We talked yesterday about SG getting Scotty Wayne back and he can form a strong running tandem with William Graves. We saw in today’s N&R from Jeff Carlton and Robert Bell that SP has a back that has gone for over 2,000 yards and the Storm will need to try and keep that kid off the field. The Storm need a push to get back to Reidsville and let’s give them(SG) a win by a TD.

Western Guilford(7-5) at Eastern Randolph(8-4) The Hornets are a number 12 taking on a #4 seed and ER is the defending state champ so the ER edge is in place early. The Easter and McKenna kids put up big totals for WG last week on the road but can they do it two straight weeks on the road? We all remember who shot JR, it was SueEllen’s sister LouEllen(Mary Crosby) right? Who will shoot ER down? Will it be WG? I’m not buying that theory this week and I’m taking ER by 10 with another fine game from the Wildcat kicker, Miguel Uribe.

That’s all for this week and the hoops are just around the corner and if you get a chance, check out the Grimsley girls basketball signings on GREENSBOROSports.com or at www.youtube.com. Again, the hoops are coming up but I do hope we have a few more weeks of football left in us.
