Notes on Dudley and Northeast Guilford football

Dudley travels to take on the Nash Central Bulldogs in round three of the State 3-AA playoffs this Friday night. The Panthers come in at (10-3) while the Bulldogs stand at (9-4). Dudley is a #7 seed and Nash Central is seeded third.

Nash Central defeated Wilson Hunt 53-20 last week and we saw Dudley come back take out Northeast Guilford 18-13. Nash Central intercepted 7 Wilson Hunt passes and I don’t think Dudley will throw more than seven passes all night long.(may not have to) The Bulldogs ran two of those INT’s back for TD’s.

The Nash Central Bulldogs’ quarterback Cameron Holloway rushed for 242 yards on 17 carries and he scored 4 TD’s. As a team the ‘Dogs carried the ball 45 times for 420 yards. C. Holloway also threw one TD pass and the Dogs had 501 yards of total offense.

Richard Sisk will retire after 31 years as a Northeast Guilford coach in December. Sisk has been an assistant coach in football and he has also coached softball. Sisk has spent his entire life at Northeast Guilford with the exception of the four years he spent in college at Elon. Sisk grew up and has always lived in the NEG community.

He has been offered a job coaching down in South Carolina. Sisk has told one of our good sources that Northeast may be losing 6 of 8 assistant coaches and that NEG may have a totally different look on the sidelines in 2008. Retirement and personal reasons will be the eliminating factors when it comes to coaches.

  1. Andy-
Thanks for noting Richard Sisk. Richard is one of the good guys in coaching. My family and I have had the pleasure of knowing Richard (in both a personal and professional setting). Richard is a first class act that realy loves teaching / coaching and the kids he comes in contact with daily. Richard has made a lasting impact on the Northeast community. He will surely be missed in the Northeast community /school.

  2. actually, coach sisk has not been offered a job in SC and will be back for the ’80 season. he retired from teaching, not coaching football, and also the NEHS staff is losing 2 people…not 6
