Duke Coaching Search Continues

The Associated Press reported on Tuesday that Vanderbilt football coach Bobby Johnson has withdrawn his name from consideration for the head coaching vacancy at Duke. According to the AP, Johnson met with Duke officials Monday. The AP is also reporting that former UCLA coach Karl Dorrell was on the Duke campus Monday.

Another name that has been discussed for the opening is former East Carolina coach Steve Logan. Logan, who until this year was working in Triangle area sports talk radio, is the current offensive coordinator at Boston College. Logan, who is known for his offensive prowess, is a favorite to many who think that Duke can compete if they can successfully install a high-powered offense, similar to the one Steve Spurrier used at Duke in the late 80s and early 90s. Duke won the ACC Co-Championship in 1989.

Ted Roof was fired as Duke’s coach on November 26th and Duke has been conducting a “national search” for his successor since that time.
