The North Carolina Tar Heels are ready to rule:ACC Insight

Danny Green has made coming off the bench something of an art for top-ranked North Carolina this season.

The junior matched his career-high with 20 points and sparked the decisive second-half spurt Sunday night to help North Carolina beat Valparaiso 90-58, keeping the Tar Heels rolling as they head into the final games of their nonconference schedule.

Tyler Hansbrough had 23 points and 13 rebounds for the Tar Heels (13-0). The Heels are off to their best start since winning 17 in a row to start the 1997-98 season. portions of above info from goheels.com

William Graves from Greeensboro, out of Dudley High School, finished with 14 points on 5-6 shooting in just eight minutes. This was the best outing of the year for Graves, a red-shirt freshman. If the mumbers compute, then Will hit four 3-pointers for 12 points and had 1 two-point field goal. He was 0-1 at the foul line. The Graves kid can shoot the three and it will help the Heels to have another man step up after the loss of Bobby Frazor, even though Graves does not play the point it will still help the Heels with their rotation.

The Heels are the team to beat and they will be the team we will be watching here at GREENSBOROSports.com as 2008 rolls in. The other ACC teams may give it a shot but the Heels are the team to stop and they might just be ready to rule the ACC. It will be fun watching to see who might be able to knock the Heels off but they are at the top alone in ACC Basketball. This is not football, this is a real North Carolina sport and the Heels and Duke are the Kings of the Carolinas.

When all the dust settles, North Carolina and Duke are the best there was, the best there is and the best there ever will be and for 2008 the Heels look like they are ready to rule the ACC. Other than Duke who is going to give them a fair game? Clemson, Miami, Boston College, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Georgia Tech, Maryland, N.C. State, Wake Forest, Florida State, all pretenders. Georgia Tech lost to UNCG, Miami lost to Winthrop, Clemson lost to UCONN,(maybe that was back in the Eldon Campbell days) but the clock always runs out on Clemson after midnight December 31. Remember the year Clemson lost to Elon and that was before Christmas. N.C. State lost to New Orleans and barely got past the Western Carolina Catamounts on Saturday.

Yes, the North Carolina Tar Heels are ready to rule the ACC in 2000/2008 and William Graves from Greensboro’s Dudley High School is going to be right there in the middle of it.

  1. Let me begin by saying that I am not related to the above mentioned William Graves but I am a fan of the North Carolina Tar Heels and they are the best team in the ACC and the other teams are not even close. UNC played very well without Frazor plus Ty Lawson and Q Thomas did not have big games but Danny Green, William Graves and Deion Thompson all stepped up and were big in the victory over Valpo.

The Heels are strong because they do it the right way. They recruit players that fit the system and when there’s a breakdown then the Heels are ready and they do not suffer from the loss of key players. This UNC system works just look at the results and watch Roy Williams and the Heels go out and win their second NATIONAL TITLE in the past three years.

This is going to be a good year for the ACC because it will be a great for UNC. The Heels are ready as you say in your headline and the rest of the league better look out. When the weather gets cold the Heels heat up and 20 straight wins to start the year is not out of the realm of possibility.

Where are all the Tar Heel haters now? You jumped on our case during football season but now the shoe is on the other foot. We are the team in charge and our leader Roy Williams is the best in the coaching business.

William Graves is a freshman! This kid can be unreal before he graduates.

Are you ready for some Tar Heel basketball? It is here and we are number one in the country and we are not going to give up that top spot.

You ask the question who can beat the Heels? There’s not a team in the ACC that can do it. The only chance any team has would be an upset in the NCAA finals and the only way that can happen is if Roy Williams has to miss the game and he aint missing no games this year sports fans.

Welcome to Tar Heel Country where Blue Heaven is a place on earth and it is in Chapel Hill, N.C.
