Alex Stepheson to miss Kent State game

The North Carolina Tar Heel sophomore has flown back to California to be with his family.

CHAPEL HILL — University of North Carolina men’s basketball(13-0) sophomore Alex Stepheson will not play this evening against Kent State(10-2) due to a family illness, head coach Roy Williams announced today.

“Alex has returned to California due to an illness in his family,” says Williams. “We are not certain when he will be able to return. Of course, at this time our thoughts and prayers are with Alex and his family.”

Stepheson, a 6-9 forward, has played in all 13 games for the top-ranked and unbeaten Tar Heels. The Los Angeles native is averaging 3.5 points and 4.8 rebounds in 13.9 minutes per game.
