UNC will see 7’7 Kenny George on Wednesday

UNC-Asheville travels to play UNC-Chapel Hill on Wednesday evening at 7pm in the Dean E. Smith Center. The game will be telecast on ESPNU and features the top-ranked Tar Heels(15-0) and the Bulldogs(11-3) fresh off an upset win at South Carolina on Saturday.

UNC-Asheville has big Kenny George in the middle at 7’7 and he is listed as the tallest player to ever play NCAA DI basketball. George is not a joke. I have seen him in action and he can have a major impact on the outcome of the ball game. UNC-Asheville also has Greensboro Day School alum KJ Garland in their lineup and he will face former Greensboro Dudley star William Graves. Garland had 15 points against the Gamecocks of South Carolina. Brandon Davis a freshman out of Greensboro Day School is also on the UNC-A roster.

Here’s the recent word on 7’8/7’7 Kenny George from uncabulldogs.com:

CHARLOTTE, N.C. –VMI junior Chavis Holmes (Charlotte, N.C.) and UNC Asheville junior Kenny George (Chicago, Ill.) have been selected as the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Men’s Basketball Co-Players of the Week for games played from Jan. 1-6.

George recorded a team-high 16 points and 13 rebounds off the bench in UNC Asheville’s 61-58 win over SEC member South Carolina Saturday night. He was 8-of-11 from the floor (.727 percent), including the go-ahead dunk with less than :30 seconds left. George had five offensive rebounds and blocked three shots in the victory.

Some reports list George at 7’8, but the UNC-Asheville roster has him at 7’7. George is believed to have the largest basketball shoe size in the world at size 27.

UNC Asheville battles top ranked UNC Chapel Hill on Wednesday at 7 p.m. before opening Big South Conference at home on Saturday against Liberty at 4:30 p.m. in the Justice Center.
