I found him, Hub Burton has been located

The fastest talking sportscaster in WFMY News TV2 history has been located and he is not doing the fast talking sports delivery any more. Hub Burton was at WFMY TV2 back in the early to mid-70’s and he was one of my all-time favorites because he could talk 90 miles a minute and not miss a beat. You had to be quick to keep up with Hub, but let’s be certain, Burton could put a hurtin’ on the sports and you got your monies worth, in fact you got more for your money in the time while Burton was spurtin’ the sports. They have now closed the sports curtain on Burton and you will never believe what he’s up to now. Well maybe you will believe it, it looks very impressive, even to an old school educator from Pleasant Garden.

Hub Burton brings more than sixteen years of communications, marketing and public relations experience to the Office of Alumni Relations. As an information specialist and assistant news director at the University of Maine and as associate vice president for communications and marketing at Ohio University, he has developed and implemented significant outreach campaigns to alumni, prospective students, the media and community audiences. His programs have included the development of print publications, web sites, radio and television productions, sports networks and broadcasts, media relations and satellite communications.

Prior to entering higher education, Hub pursued a sportscasting career in Arizona, North Carolina(WFMY TV2) and Massachusetts covering everything from the Final Four to the World Series, Super Bowl and Stanley Cup Playoffs. A 1976 graduate of the University of Arizona with a bachelor’s degree in Radio-TV production, Hub completed his master’s in journalism at Ohio University in 2001.

His outside interests include journalism history, his son’s hockey and his daughter’s ballet. Hub and his wife, Kelli, reside in Pickerington, Ohio.
