Greensboro’s Ethan Albright, a 14-year NFL veteran, has earned an invitation to his first Pro Bowl, his brother Erik Albright said today.
Ethan Albright, who just finished his seventh season with the Washington Redskins, has crafted a 16-year NFL career as a long snapper, a specialty position that is generally ignored when performed properly. The former Grimsley High Scool and University of North Carolina offensive lineman has played in every game over the past 12 seasons. That includes a stint with the Buffalo Bills from 1996-2000 and a Redskins tenure that began when the team signed him as a free agent before the 2001 campaign.
The NFL is expected to make the announcement this afternoon.
Albright, who has become secretly known as one of the league’s most accurate and dependable snappers, was selected when the Green Bay Packers coaches, who agreed to direct the NFC team in the Pro Bowl after their club’s loss in Sunday’s conference championship game, inquired about the player’s availability.
The Pro Bowl is set for Feb. 10 in Honolulu.
