David Jackson North Carolina sportscaster of the year

David Jackson the voice for all Appalachian State University sports has been named the North Carolina sportscaster of the year for 2007. Jackson is a graduate of Northeast Guilford High School here in Guilford County and his dad, Randy Jackson was the News 2 weatherman for many years and coined the phrase, “Randy Jackson said it would be like this”.

David got his start doing ball games by doing the public address announcing for all of the NEG football and basketball games. David played baseball for the NEG Ram baseball team. David also played Pony, Colt, and Palomino baseball here in Greensboro. David Jackson has done a fine job as the play-by-play man for all of the Appalachian Mountaineer ball games and he now calls his team the Apps more than any other nickname.

You can hear David locally each day Monday-Friday with his “Around the Mountain” updates on Appalachian Mountaineer sports at 12:30pm on 790 the Ball radio out of High Point. David also does the ASU games on 790AM the Ball along with his dad Randy.

David is now famous world wide for his call of the Appalachian State Mountaineers upset victory over Michigan in football to start off the 2007 season. David got his start with ASU broadcasting App basketball while he was still a student in Boone and while Buzz Peterson was still the Apps basketball coach.

Now David Jackson is the North Carolina sportscaster of the year.
