Greensboro College: Womens Basketball 73, Mary Baldwin 60

Staunton, Va. – Dione Eccles (W. Forsyth) scored 22 points and Danielle Duncan (Ragsdale) had 19 and 10 rebounds as Greensboro College (12-7, 9-3) won a conference game at Mary Baldwin, 73-60, on Sunday.

Eccles was 9-17 from the field and made 4 of her 5 three-point attempts. Duncan, a freshman, shot 8-17 and posted her sixth double-double of the year.

The Pride, however, had to come from behind to secure the victory. GC trailed by as many as 16 points in the first half. MBC was ahead 25-9 before The Pride outscored the Fighting Squirrels 25-11 in the opening half’s final 9 minutes to cut the deficit to 36-34 at halftime.

Duncan made a shot that provided Greensboro its first lead at 42-41 with 17:19 remaining in regulation. The Pride never trailed againg.

GC tied a season-high with 9 three-point baskets in the game. Nikki Wilborn had 3 from behind the arc and finished with 9 points. Her trey with 7:36 on the clock gave its largest lead at 63-48.

Christie Hamilton scored 21 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead Mary Baldwin (7-11, 4-8). Jessica Carter added 16 points for the Squirrels.

GC won the battle of the boards 50-48. The Pride committed 20 and forced 25 turnovers.
