Roanoke at Greensboro Baseball moved back for RAIN

The Pride home opening baseball game vs. Roanoke has been pushed back to Thursday due to expected rain tomorrow. First pitch is 3 p.m. at War Memorial Stadium.

Andy Doss will throw out the first pitch at Greensboro College’s home opening baseball game. He is the website and graphic design coordinator at Greensboro College. His father, Bob, passed away on Jan. 22.

Bob Doss was a lifelong resident of Greensboro and loved the game of baseball. A former US Marine, Bob Doss was president of the local Palomino baseball league. He was the 2006 National Baseball Federation’s Man of the Year. Additionally, he was a member of the PONY Baseball Wall of Fame.

“Bob Doss was a passionate and devoted leader for youth baseball in Greensboro for many decades,” said Pride Athletics Director Kim Strable. “Bob was among the first to congratulate Greensboro College and offer support when we started our baseball program back in 1993 and he actively encouraged youth players to aspire to the college level. He was a bonafide baseball icon in our community and leaves a legacy that will likely never be matched.”

Expected to join Andy Doss at the event are his siblings: Randy and Sandy. Randy was Greensboro College’s first sports information and served as admissions director.
