Greensboro Womens Softball: Emory 7, GC 1

Atlanta, Ga. — The Greensboro College softball team lost its season opener, 7-1, at regional power Emory on Friday. Emory broke open the game with 5 runs in the third inning.

The Pride got on the scoreboard in the 4th frame. Jessica Clack led off with a bunt single. Olivia McPherson (2-3, double) followed with a single to right field. Two batters later, Erin Jolly ( 2-2, RBI) singled in Clack for GC’s lone tally.

Jordan Davenport started for GC. She tossed 2 2/3 innings, gave up 5 runs and took the loss. Erica Brown threw 3 1/3 innings in relief. She allowed 2 runs.

Shanon Andersen pitched a complete and got the win for the Eagles. She recorded 10 strikeouts. Rachel Blume went 2-3 with a grand slam home run in the third.
