Greensboro Womens Swimming: Cooke Sets Pride Record

Alex Cooke Breaks 50 Free Record at Day One of Atlantic States Championship.

Radford, Va. — Greensboro College’s Alex Cooke (High Point, NC/Southwest Guilford) set a new school record at day one of Atlantic States Championships.

The junior won the championship final of the 50 Free with a time of :24.91. She broke her own record time of :24.99, which she set in her freshman year.

Other GC finishes in the 50 free: Taylor Layton, 27:02, 11th; Katie Byrd, 31:08, 27th; Rachel Brown, 33rd, 35:31; Mary Lackey, 41st, 36.46. All were season bests for the GC swimmers.

Megan Lupsha swam a 5:55 in the 500 free to place 14th. The Pride 400 Medley Relay unit of Cooke, Lupsha, Layton, and Byrd placed 7th with a 4:49.71 clocking.
