Greensboro Womens Softball 15, Wesleyan 2

Atlanta, Ga. — After two days of close games, Greensboro College busted out on Sunday with a 15-2 win over Wesleyan (Ga.) to close out play at the Emory Tournament. The Pride improved to 2-2 and Wesleyan is now 1-7.

The Pride tallied two runs in the top of the first inning. Sophomore Erin Jolly (1-2, triple run, RBI) tripled in Olivia McPherson (2-3, run) and Britney Smith for the runs.

GC erupted for nine runs in the second frame highlighted by Smith’s inside the park home run that brought home three teammates. Smith went 2-3 with 2 runs and 3 RBI.

Greensboro put its final four runs on the board in the fourth inning. Ryeleigh Loftin tripled in two in the fourth. She scored two times in the game for GC. Ashley Pennington was 2-3 and also scored twice.

On the mound, Erica Brown (Randleman) hurled 4 innings, scattered 5 its and gave up one run. She struck out five and walked three and is 1-0. Jordan Davenport hurled the final inning for The Pride. She allowed two hits and a run.

The game was shortened to 5 innings dues to the 8 run rule.
