Last night in the Triad 3-A for the girls it was #1 Northeast Guilford defeating Bartlett Yancey 69-32(JT Stevens 17 pts. for NEG), #2 Dudley topped Western Guilford 54-35(Amanda Hairston, the daughter of the late Eric Hairston who starred at Elon, Amanda had 15 pts. for the Dudley Panthers), #3 Rockingham County won out over Western Alamance 52-40, and #4 Morehead erased Northern Guilford 50-46. By all accounts this would end NG’s season.
At the Metro 4-A tourney being held at Grimsley it was Northwest Guilford moving past Smith 63-38(Gretchen Bennett had 18 for NWG) and in the nightcap it was High Point Central over East Forsyth 58-43(Lindsay Brendle 16 for HPC).
Girls on Thursday at NEG #1 Northeast vs. #4 Morehead and #2 Dudley vs. #3 Rockingham County. At Grimsley: #2 Page vs. #3 HPC and #1 Grimsley vs. #4 NWG
Elsewhere in girls it was Ragsdale taking out Trinity 50-36(Courtney Arrington 14 for the Tigers) and Eastern Guilford won against West Stokes 50-45(Lashonda Anderson and Miranda Jenkins 17 each for EG). #1 Ragsdale, will play the winner of tonight’s #3 Eastern Randolph-#2 Southeast Guilford hookup, on Thursday in Asheboro. #2 Eastern Guilford should be playing at #1 Reidsville for the North State 2-A title on Thursday.
In boy’s games on Tuesday it was HP Andrews over WS Carver 50-39 and WS Parkland ended Southwest Guilford’s season with a 58-41 win over the SWG Cowboys last night.
In boy’s tournament activity tonight it will be the semifinals at Grimsley for the Metro 4-A with #3 Page taking on #2 East Forsyth at 6pm and #1 Grimsley meeting meeting #4 NWG at 7:30.
At NEG in the Triad 3-A boys it’s #1 Dudley facing #5 Western Guilford at 6 and Northern tangles with the host NEG Rams at 7:30pm.
Also tonight it will be #4 Reidsville at #1 Eastern Guilford in the boys North State 2-A and I would assume that game will be played at UNCG, and in the girl’s Piedmont Triad 3-A tournament at HP Andrews it will be a very tough matchup when #1 SWG faces #4 HPA.
