Greensboro Mens Basketball Advance to USAS Finals 83-81

The Pride Advances to First USA South Final Since 1995!

Newport News,Va. — R.J. Smith scored a team high 19 points and made the a game-winning three-point shot with one second remaining to lift Greensboro College (13-14) to a 83-81 win over North Carolina Wesleyan on Friday.

Adam Coleman’s potential game-tying jump shoot rimmed out as time expired.

The sixth-seeded Pride plays fifth seed Averett for the final on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. It’s the first conference championship game appearance for GC since 1995.

Bruce Zamuel scored 15, Adam Nicholson had 14 and Jason Sharpe netted 13 and pulled down a game-high 13 boards.

Hot-shooting NC Wesleyan got off to a strong start. They made 8-9 three pointers to open the game and their first 24 points came from behind the arc.

Jarmel Arrington had a game-high 35 points for the Bishops (12-15). NCWC made 15-23 three-pointers in the contest.
