-Pride baseball Splits in Sunday
> Game one: GC 6, Montclair State 5
Jacob Tomb went 5-3 with an RBI and a stolen base to lead The Pride. Torrey Poholsky (3-1) threw 7 innings, scattered 9 hits and got the win. Nevin Fulcher earned his first save of the year.

> Game two: JWU 9, GC 6
Johnson & Wales scored 6 runs in the 7th inning en route to defeating Greensboro College, 9-6, at War Memorial Stadium on Sunday evening.

Dan Poindexter led GC at the plate. He went 2-3 with 2 runs scored. Antony Corona tripled in 4 at-bats. James Hones and
Tyler O’Neil both knocked in 2 runs for GC.

Kevin Showe had a strong outing as The Pride’s starting pitcher. He hurled 6 innings, allowed one earned run, struck out 8 and walked just one. Craig Farley (0-1) took the loss for GC.

-Men’s Tennis GC 7, Eastern, Pa. 2

-Mens Lacrosse: Muhlenberg 12, GC 6
Greensboro, N.C. — Kyle Farris scored 4 goals as Muhlenberg College defeated Greensboro College, 12-6, on Sunday.

Muhlenberg is now 2-0 while The Pride dropped to 0-3.

The Mules scored first but GC responded with unassisted goals by Brandon Savage and Nick Patrone and held a 2-1 lead after the first period. Patrone ended with 2 goals and Savage scored and assisted once.

Muhlenberg outscored GC 4-0 in the second quarter and held a 5-2 lead at the half. The visitors built a 6-2 advantage before The Pride countered with tallies from Neal Mckinney and Jose Rodriguez. Brian Bishop got his first of two assists of the game on McKinney’s goal. Savage assisted Rodriguez.

The Mules then netted the game’s next 7 goals. MC out shot GC 27-32 and won 11 face offs to 10 for The Pride.

GC’s Matt Leach had a career high 18 saves for Greensboro.

-Women’s Lacrosse:
Catholic 25, GC 12

Greensboro, NC — Meghan Sabo scored 6 goals as Catholic University (2-0) defeated Greensboro College, 25-12, at Pride Field on Sunday. The Pride dropped to 0-5 with the loss.

GC’s Layne Woodard (2 goals, 2 assists) recorded the first score of the contest 38 seconds into the game. Catholic responded with the next 3 tallies. They led 9-6 at halftime.

Christie Hebert’s goal made the score 11-7 with 27:14 remaining. The Cardinals then scored the next 11 goals and led 22-7 with 15:30 on the clock. Hebert and Christina Denney led The Pride with 3 goals apiece.

Caroline Young had 2 goals and Laruen Maynard made 12 saves. CUA had 44 shots to 21 for the home team. The Pride was edge in draws 19-18.

  1. Wow, did anthing important happen in the ACC on Sunday? Maybe we should start a list of teams that had the resolve to beat the Terps this year.
