W-S Cyclone Players In Need Due To Apartment Fire

I received this from the Greensboro Ice Hockey Booster Club…

The Twin City Cyclones regretfully announce that eight members of the team have been displaced as a result of an apartment fire that occurred earlier this afternoon. All players are safe and without injury, however one of their apartments and its contents have been completely destroyed. At this time, fire officials have not released the cause of the blaze.

Monetary donations are being accepted and would be greatly appreciated to help rebuild the lives of the players that lost everything in the fire.

From the Winston-Salem Journal:
Hockey players among 14 displaced in apartment fire
A fire at a Winston-Salem apartment complex yesterday afternoon displaced 14 people, including eight minor-league hockey players, officials said.
No one was injured.
The fire was caused by discarded smoking material in a trash can, said Harry Brown, a Winston-Salem Fire Department battalion chief.
The fire was at Waverly Apartments, a complex off Bethabara Park Boulevard, and was reported at 1:15 p.m. The first firetruck arrived four minutes later, and the fire was put out by 1:55, Brown said.
One apartment was badly burned, and several others were damaged. Firefighters had the electricity to eight apartments turned off, Brown said. Damage was estimated at $53,000 to property and $18,000 to the contents.
The local chapter of the American Red Cross was helping those displaced in the fire, Brown said.
A message on the Web site of the Twin City Cyclones, Winston-Salem’s minor-league hockey team, said that eight players lived at the apartments and had lost everything they owned.
