Guilford College Athletics

Guilford’s men’s basketball season ended Friday night as St. Mary’s College of Maryland scored an 89-77 victory over the Quakers in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament Friday night. Ben Strong led all scorers with 35 points in his final college game, but the Seahawks made 62.5 percent of their second-half shots to overcome a 40-39 halftime deficit. Eric Belkoski added 16 points for Guilford. The Quakers end their season with a 24-5 overall record.

Guilford’s baseball games at Bridgewater College, scheduled for March 8, have been postponed one day due to weather. The Quakers and Eagles will play their league doubleheader Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in Bridgewater, Va.

The site of Guilford’s men’s lacrosse game with Neumann College has been moved to Old Redskin Park, in Herndon, Va. Opening face-off is 6:00 p.m.

Guilford’s women’s lacrosse team picked up its first win of the season Thursday night with a 19-14 triumph over visiting Marymount College. Nine different Quakers scored and sophomore goalie Alyzza-May Callahan made nine saves off the bench to earn the victory.
