Spring sports report

We had a few high school baseball games yesterday and the way the weather and temperatures were(60 plus degrees) we should have had more.

Reidsville gave Northern Guilford their first loss of the season as the Rams derailed the Nighthawks 13-4. NG(1-1) was up early 4-0 in the top of the first inning, but the Rams went to work and shut down the NG attack the rest of the way. Reidsville stopped the NG JV’s 9-1.

The Page Pirates fell to (1-2), losing to East Chapel Hill 4-3. Nick Jones, Trey Medlin, and Greg Goley led the Pirate assault but they came up two runs short.

HP Wesleyan is still rolling after their 3-0 win over Charlotte Country Day. The win led by the pitching efforts of Michael Bennett(13 k’s/no BB/one hit allowed), sends the Trojans to (3-0), to start the season. The Northwest Guilford Vikings dropped a close one to Charlotte Christian(5-0) by the score of 8-7 this past Saturday afternoon in Charlotte.

In Forsyth County, and Grimsley, Page, and NWG will all be seeing these guys; East Forsyth(4-0) stopped Reagan behind Ryan Dull’s 3rd win of the young season. Dull(3-0) struck out 9 Reagan Raider batters and now Dull has sent down 26 batters by way of the K in his last two outings. That’s 26 strikeouts over his last two games and I thought EF was supposed to be having an off year after losing Kenny Swab to graduation and Tyler Hanover to North Davidson.

West Forsyth sent Carver packing after a 6-1 Titan win led by Garrison Lassiter with 2 big hits including a double. Glenn shut out Parkland 2-0 and the Parkland Mustangs were supposed to be real tough, and remember, Grimsley defeated Glenn in the Whirlies’ first game of the season.
