Guilford College Softball Finals – Roanoke 11-13, Guilford 3-2

Greensboro, N.C. (3-12-08) – Roanoke College extended its winning streak to 13 games by sweeping an Old Dominion Athletic Conference doubleheader at Guilford College Wednesday.

In the opener, Tamara Poles hit a three-run HR in the second and added an RBI groundout in the first and an RBI single in the 4th. Maroons’ pitcher Kelsey Ruitenberg retired the last eight batters she faced and had an RBI groundout in the 1st and an RBI single in the 4th. Taryn Pulvermuller hit a two-run homer in the second for Guilford.

In the nightcap, Roanoke sent 15 batters to the plate in its 11-run first inning. The Maroons scored nine of its 11 first-inning runs with two out. Hilary Hudgins hit a three-run double in the inning. Kelsey Ruitenberg added a two-run double in the inning. Clarissa Norwich hit three run-scoring doubles for the Maroons.
