Kelsey Stevens headed to California

Kelsey Stevens, senior tight end/wide receiver from Grimsley High School, will taking his game of football way out west to California. Stevens caught 14 TD passes during his senior season and now will continue his education and his football at the College of the Siskiyous.

This is the same school that Grimsley linebacker James Hinson Jr. has chosen to attend and this should help both of the Whirlies to have some kind of bond going into this college experience together. Stevens is big guy and a very reliable receiver and Hinson is one of the most intense and hardest hitters you will ever see.

Good luck to both young men as they are now saying, “California here we come”.

Here’s the inside on the College of the Siskiyous from wikipedia.com:
College of the Siskiyous (COS) is a public two-year community college located in Weed in Siskiyou County in Northern California. It is part of the California Community Colleges System and has an enrollment of approximately 3,000 students, including part-time students. It is the northernmost college in the state of California and the only college in Siskiyou County. It lies in the service area of California State University, Chico. It is one of only ten community colleges in California that provide on-campus dormitories for students.

COS was founded in 1957 after a special election. Buildings on the current location first opened their doors on September 8, 1959. Facilities at COS include Herschel Meredith Stadium for football and track and field events, and the Ford Theater for theatrical performances. The athletic mascot is the Eagle.

A common misconception about COS is that it is named after Siskiyou County. But it is actually named after the Siskiyou Mountains, a mountain range that runs along the California-Oregon border, which is referred to as “the Siskiyous” (referenced in the plural form, instead of singular).

The president of COS is Dr. W. David Pelham.

Famous alumni include Dan Hawkins, the head football coach at the University of Colorado, and Craig T. Nelson, best known as the star of Coach.

Large group of readers and many good comments were being tossed around about Kelsey……
