Greensboro Baseball: Tufts 10, GC 6

Greensboro, N.C. — Tufts University defeated Greensboro College, and snapped The Pride’s 4-game winning streak, with a 10-6 victory at War Memorial Stadium on Tuesday night.

Adam Telian (1-1) tossed 7 innings for the Jumbos, who improved to 2-3. Ken Gilliland (1-2) took the loss for GC (17-9).

Dale Martin had a huge night at the plate for GC. He went 2-3 with a run and 3 RBI. Jacob Tomb and Alex Guerra both recorded 2 hits in 5 at-bats. Catcher Jeff Guerrie knocked a home run for The Pride.

Tufts had a 5-0 lead after 2 innings and 7-1 after 3. GC trailed 9-2 heading to the 8th frame. The Pride rallied with 4 runs in the eighth inning, all scored with none out. GC got the tying run to the plate but could not score again.

Casey Pontes went 4-6 with a run and an RBI for the Jumbos. Both teams committed 5 errors apiece in the contest.
