Brendan Haywood looking good…

He played on the Dudley Panthers’ 1996 State 4-A HS Championship basketball team. He was the starting center for the North Carolina Tar Heels. From what I was seeing last night, Brendan Haywood is now looking pretty good for the Washington Wizards in the NBA.

Haywood was slamming the ball, blocking shots, and grabbing rebounds as he helped lead the Wizards over the Detroit Pistons. Maybe Haywood has found his spot and his time has come due. He sure got my attention last night and I hope he can keep it going for Washington.

The Wizards beat the Pistons 95-83, for the second time this season, another impressive victory for Washington, which already has beaten league-leading Boston twice, Dallas and New Orleans twice and was four days removed from beating Orlando.

“We’re starting to get back to that form that we need to be back at as the season is winding down and playoff time is coming up,” said Antawn Jamison(UNC/Gastonia), who had 24 points and 12 rebounds for his 40th double-double of the season. “Now we’re starting defensively to get back on the right page, and offensively we’re moving the ball and really making our opponents play defense.”

Caron Butler added 17 points and six assists, and Brendan Haywood finished with 16 points. DeShawn Stevenson scored 12 points, and forward Darius Songaila(Wake Forest) came off the bench for 10. *****Parts of the info from Washington Wizards Web site.*****

  1. Don’t expect too much out of “The Big Lazy!” He’s just milking his time, as he always does. Some of us remember his performance against Weber State all too well.

  2. Haywood has become an Impact Player. This dude is getting it done. You must be thinking of Danny Manning….
