Greensboro College Pride Softball Sweeps AU

DANVILLE, Va. – Greensboro College swept softball swept a double-header at USA South Conference rival Averett on Wednesday by final scores of 5-1 and 7-0 on Cougar Field.

In game one, Greensboro (12-10-2, 3-2-1 USA South) came back from a 1-0 deficit in the fifth inning when they strung together three hits with an Averett error to score two runs. GC added three more runs in the top of the seventh, and the Cougars were unable to score again as game one ended with the score 5-1.

Erica Brown earned the win for GC. She allowed 2 hits, no earned runs and fanned 5 Cougars. Kendra Leghart went 2-3 with 2 runs and 2 RBI for The Pride.

In the second contest, the Pride jumped to an early two-run lead in the first inning on a hit and a pair of Cougar errors. GC added two more runs in the fourth inning, and crossed three in the seventh inning to put the final score at 7-0 in favor of Greensboro.

Jenee Johnson went 2-4 with a double, a run and an RBI to lead the GC offense. Freshman Olivia McPherson also collected 2 hits. Stacie Patterson and Jordan Davenport combined for the shutout. Patterson got the win, had 6 strikeouts and no walks.
