Sounds like there was another Big Game last Wednesday…..

I grabbed a few of the details from the Winston-Salem Journal’s Friday edition on Northwest Guilford’s 11-10 win over Glenn in 10 last Wednesday, the same day we were watching SEG top Ragsdale in the battle of the 3-A heavyweights.

Northwest Guilford topped Glenn 11-0 in 10 innings with Omar De la Rosa getting the win for the NWG Vikings over the Bobcats. Robbie McIntosh was the starting pitcher for NWG and Tommy Plante came on the 4th before De la Rosa took over for the Vikings in the 6th inning and went the rest of the way to earn the victory.

NWG is now (8-3) and Glenn also stands at (8-3). Eric Presnell worked the entire game behind the plate for NWG while Glenn used five different pitchers and they had three seperate catchers working over the 10 inning contest.

Stephen McKita was 4-6 for NWG with a home run, 3RBI’s and three runs scored, while Phillip Dixon went 3-5 with an RBI and he scored two runs. McIntosh and Tommy Houston both had doubles for NWG.

Northwest Guilford scored the tying run in the contest in 10th inning on consecutive singles by Dixon, McKita, and McIntosh. McKita scored the winning run with two outs when Logan Self walked with the bases loaded.

Sounds like it was another big game going on there with the NWG Vikings and the Glenn Bobcats.

*****The Grimsley game was moved from Monday to Wednesday and this will be another one of those BIG GAMES. Who starts? George Carter vs. Robbie McIntosh or Jon Wilkinson vs. Logan Self? Self stopped Grimsley two times in the regular season last year and then lost to the Whirlies when Clint Moore got the call for Grimsley in the conference tournament semifinals at NWG.*****

  1. The Northwest rally win over Glenn was very exciting Wednesday night. Not one of the Viking players on the field or in the dugout ever gave up, even when down by a large deficit. “Never give up. Never ever give up.” Go NW!!!
