Guilford College Athletics Update

Guilford’s women’s lacrosse team won its seventh match in eight games Wednesday night with a 17-3 Old Dominion Athletic Conference win over Sweet Briar College. Mary Hutchins scored a season-high eight points on four goals and four assists. Jordan Clodfelter chipped in two goals and two assists for the Quakers, who led 13-2 at halftime. The Quakers’ men’s lacrosse team dropped a 14-7 Old Dominion Athletic Conference decision to visiting Hampden-Sydney College Wednesday afternoon. Guilford’s softball team split an Old Dominion Athletic Conference doubleheader Wednesday afternoon at Randolph-Macon College. The games were rescheduled from Sunday. Guilford won the opener, 5-2, behind two hits and a complete game from rookie pitcher Samantha Golley. Golley hit her first college homer in the second game, but the Yellow Jackets prevailed, 4-2. The Quakers swept host Mary Baldwin College Tuesday, winning 11-2 and 10-3. Kelly Guarnieri went four-for-four with three RBIs and Kelly Hale added three RBIs in the opening-game win.
