Guilford College Women’s Lacrosse Final – Guilford 15, Bridgewater 9

Bridgewater, Va. – Mary Hutchins (West Lebanon, N.H./Lebanon) and Carrie Ernst (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) scored four goals apiece to lead visiting Guilford College past Bridgewater College Sunday afternoon, 15-9, in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match.

The Quakers won for the eighth time in 10 matches and improve their overall record to 8-5 overall, 4-2 in the ODAC. Bridgewater concludes its season with a 5-10 mark (1-7 ODAC).

Ernst scored three times in the opening half as Guilford built a 6-1 intermission lead. Guilford scored four of the second half’s first five goals, two by Hutchins, which opened a 10-2 margin with 24:44 left to play. The Eagles answered with three of the next four tallies and pulled to within 11-5 on the first of Leslie Crawford’s three goals with 15:46 left in the match. Bridgewater drew no closer.

Hutchins finished with a game-high six points on four goals and two assists. Carolyn Rodda (Bethesda, Md./Academy of the Holy Cross) scored three times for Guilford and teammate Jordan Clodfelter (Adamant, Vt./Union-32) added two scores and an assist.

Crawford and Leslie Wade paced the Eagles with three goals apiece.

Guilford visits league-rival Roanoke College Friday (4/18) afternoon at 4:00 p.m.
