Spring Sports Report:Baseball and Soccer today…

A little later than usual coming at you today but the Greensboro Grasshoppers game didn’t get finished until almost midnight and has moved the schedule back a bit today.

The Southeast Guilford Falcons got the win they were looking for to close out a perfect conference mark with their 8-2 victory over Ragsdale. SEG goes to (18-2/12-0) and they have the tournament coming up next week April 28-30 and the finals will be at Eastern Randolph. You could see SEG vs. Ragsdale, Randleman, or maybe even Asheboro in the championship game. Ragsdale now stands at (15-6/8-4) after yesterday’s loss.

Cam Cockman was the ace for SEG in the win over the Ragsdale Tigers going seven innings for a complete game and he gave up just three hits while striking out 11 Tiger batters and walking none. Austin Moyer and Eric Seders led the Falcon hitters with Moyer getting a double and Seders going 2-2. Nick McBride took the loss for Ragsdale and Ben Fultz had the big blow for the Tigers with a home run to left field.

The regular season is over and the tournament starts on Monday at the higher seeded teams home fields.

The SEG JV’s won their last game of the season with an 8-6 victory over Ragsdale at SEG. Tiger Miller was hot again going 2-3 and scoring 2 runs to lead the young Falcons to victory.

Those are our only scores from Thursday. We need an update on Dudley(13-4) at Northern Guilford and I’m sure there are some other scores floating around out there for us to talk about.

I did see where Coach Luke Oates and his Vandalia Vikings ripped Lee Christian 18-6 yesterday. VCS is now (12-4) and in Thursday’s win Brad Horton was 4-4 with 3HR’s and 6RBI’s. What about our two prospects from there, Steven Conger and the Taylor kid? Has anyone heard how Ethan Ogburn from Southwest Guilford has been doing lately? Some of our sources have been asking about him, Brock Hudgens, and Bo Rein…..

The Western Guilford girls soccer team has been outstanding during this spring season. I have had several people ask me if I have seen them play yet. I was out that way last Friday and they won 2-0 over some team from down near Charlotte. On Thursday WG defeated Northern Guilford 6-0 to run their record to (14-1-1) overall and (10-0) conference. The young Hornets lead by Claire O’Keeffe and company are tearing up the competition. Page beat Grimsley in girls soccer yesterday 4-1.

Baseball games scheduled for today:

Dudley(13-4) at Northeast Guilford 7pm
Page at Smith 4:30pm
Grimsley(14-5/6-2) at High Point Central 7pm
Northwest Guilford(13-6/6-2) at East Forsyth(16-4/7-1) 7pm
Western Alamance at Western Guilford 7pm
