Northwest Guilford leads East Forsyth 1-0, bottom of 2nd inning…

On-going coverage as long as we can keep in touch with Justin Smith who is sending us the score from his game with High Point Wesleyan vs. Forsyth Country Day at Ernie Shore Field in Winston-Salem. Michael Dimock is scheduled to pitch for the HPW Trojans.

The HPW-FCD game is set to get going momentarily but again, in the bottom of the second inning, Northwest Guilford leads East Forsyth 1-0 in the METRO 4-A conference championship game at EF in Kernersville…..

If you get a score and we have lost contact for some reason, drop the score in the comment box…..

Northwest Guilford has grabbed a 3-1 lead in the 5th inning…..NWG over East Forsyth in the 5th at EF in Kernersville…..

High Point Wesleyan leads Forsyth Country Day 2-0 at Ernie Shore Field on the strength of Michael Dimock’s two-run home run in the top of the third inning.(The first time these two teams met it was 3-2 HPW at Weselyan)…..

  1. NWG wins 3-1 over EF with Robbie McIntosh going the distance on the mound. Eric Presnell laced a two-run single in the 5th for the winning run(s) and McIntosh shut down the EF bats for the remainder of the game. It was an exciting win for the Vikings!

  2. Northwest was right on target in the Metro 4A Conference Championship game. Robbie McIntosh pitched one heck of a game striking out 10 Eagles and scattering 4 hits. Eric Presnell had what many Northwest fans would call his best hit of the season in driving home two runs in the top of the fifth with 2 outs on a 1- 2 count that gave Northwest a 3-1 lead that they would not relinquish. Glen Clemmons made two fantastic over-the-head catches in right field in the bottom of the 7th that would have given the Eagles a momentum swing.

The back-to-back wins away at Grimsley Friday night and against East Forsyth on Monday night may well be considered by many Northwest fans as the best back-to-back wins by a Northwest baseball team over the last four years. The 2008 team has accomplished goals of winning the Havelock tournament over Spring Break and now winning the Metro 4A Conference Tourney chamionship. This team also carries momentum going into the States. They stand at 18-7 on the year.

A very exciting game with some clutch hits, strong defense, and very strong fan support. GO NORTHWEST!!!!!

  3. They may have some good momentum as of now, but they will get cocky, LIKE ALWAYS, and go into states thinking they are going to win it all. Yeah..good luck with that Vikings.

  4. Glen Clemmons is one of the best outfielders I’ve seen in a long time. He’s an outfielder for Northwest Guilford. Now get this, Northwest was leading 3 to 1 with 2 outs with men on 1 st and 2nd base in the 6th . Number 11 for EF, one of the best hitters on EF, hit a shot down the first base line and Glen Clemmons with his speed caught it like I’ve never seen before. No one would of ever thought he would catch it. And on top of that, he caught 2 more but this time over his shoulder also with men on base. Tremendous speed and athletic ability. He also has a strong arm and rifled it to the cut off to keep the runners at bay. He saved 3 runs from coming in . It would have been a definite momentum shift had he missed them.He saved the day. It was quite remarkable. Go Vikings

  5. We believe the 2008 NW team to be well-grounded. They have some very intelligent young men on the team that keep things in perspective. We wish the NW team all of the best in the States. We wish all of the Guilford County teams nothing but the best in the States. May each player on each team play with good sportsmanship and be kept safe from injury. May each student-athlete perform well on their AP Exams this week and next.
